In 2001 following the planning & development work we did at the adjacent Geelong Grammar School campus, we worked with Mexted Rimmer Landscape Architects to develop an Environmental Management Plan for around 80ha of under-utilised agricultural land that buffers this prominent site on populated edge of Victoria’s 2nd largest city.

We completed a topographic survey and layout design before doing the ground preparation and planting of nearly 40,000 trees and shrubs across two different areas. The 30ha area that fronts the Princes Highway has two large curved planting strips which are equal in width to the open pastoral alleys between, forming a biodiverse screen of low rainfall timber species.

The 45ha area to the north of the refinery complex is also in an alley farming configuration, though this layout has a sequence of 3 straight north-south rows of trees and 60m wide pasture/crop alleys with triangular block tree plantings to the east and west.
